Legal Affiliations, Activities, and Awards: Dallas County voters elected Craig Smith to the 192nd Civil District Court in 2006. After two years on the bench, Judge Smith was recognized as Trial Judge of the Year by the Dallas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Additionally, Judge Smith earned the 2008 Hartman Judicial Pro Bono Service Award from the Dallas Bar Association based on his participation and support for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, which allows volunteer attorneys and their clients to resolve uncontested cases in a "night court" setting. Judge Smith has held numerous leadership roles in legal professional organizations, including the Dallas Bar Association, American Board of Trial Advocates, and National Board of Trial Advocacy. His commitment to his community includes serving as a board member for AIDS Services of Dallas. He is also an avid supporter of such community-service groups as Habitat for Humanity, North Texas Food Bank, Union Gospel Mission, and The Family Place. |
